In 2006, Bob was invited by the NBA to work with D-League players aspiring to reach the NBA level. His first player, Renaldo Major was called up to the NBA by the Golden State Warriors in January of 2007. After being a mentor for two seasons, Bob stepped aside as a mentor due to difficulties matching his speaking schedule with players off-court schedule.
